Winter contains 281 pictures and shows the magical beauty of this special season. The hoar frost (also called rime ice - I like to call it cloud frost) that covers the mountains and all the delightful and beautiful snow reveal what a spectacular place this is in the winter. The entire county always gets excited at the prediction of the first big snow. See if you can find the “sundog” (a rainbow spot in the clouds). Our snows usually melt quickly making driving safe after only a day or two so we get to have all the beauty AND get out safely to enjoy it. Old timers say winter is a lot warmer now. They can remember before electricity came to everyone in the county when you stored your meat outside all winter and it stayed frozen. Some remember driving their trucks over the frozen creeks - something that doesn’t happen anymore. |
